What Is Rhinoplasty?

Dr. Norman Rowe graduated with an MD in plastic surgery from the prestigious New York University Medical Center. After graduating, Dr. Norman Rowe started a plastic surgery practice in New York that specializes in breast and rhinoplasty procedures.

Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure done on the nose. It can be done for health reasons (for example, to help a patient breathe better) or personal reasons (such as when a patient doesn't like how their nose looks and decides to have the surgery done to reduce the size of their nose, reshape it, or straighten the nose bridge). Every rhinoplasty procedure a plastic surgeon does is unique, because they create a customized plan for each patient based on what they want to achieve from the surgery.

During the procedure (also commonly referred to as a nose job), the surgeon reconstructs the nose’s bone structure, cartilage, or skin to achieve the patient's desired nose appearance. A nose job takes 1.5 to 3 hours to perform, and in most cases a patient can go home after surgery. They’ll experience swelling around the nose, but they won’t be in too much pain. After a rhinoplasty, patients are advised to take it slow for a week, after which they can resume normal activities.
